Chapter 08 · Cross-check
Two figures for the same thing.
Twelve places where official numbers for one quantity differ: between two tables of the same document, between a forecast and the outturn, between the government's measure and the IMF's. Each shows both figures, the gap, and where each was read. Most gaps have a stated reason, and the reason is given.
How to read a gap
A gap is not an accusation. Forecasts miss, definitions differ and early estimates are revised. What this page does is put the two numbers next to each other with their sources, so that neither is quoted alone.
What "confirmed" means here
Both figures in a card were read by us in the documents named beneath it. Where a difference or a ratio is our own subtraction or division, the card says so.

Customs-based trade figures from the Bureau of Statistics against the State Bank's banking records; the revised import series promised for August 2026; and budget against outturn for each province. These need documents we have not yet read.
